Join a fast-paced and dynamic role, leading the implementation of Environment and Climate Resilience initiatives. You'll be at the forefront of developing and executing policies and projects, impacting various stakeholders, City departments, and future development. This leadership position involves mentoring and guiding Climate project teams to adapt to changing demands and Council priorities, fostering a high-performing and accountable team. As the Climate Strategy Program Lead, you'll oversee project delivery, risk management, efficient practices, and comprehensive communication strategies. Your success will be measured by citizen trust, resource efficiency, stakeholder collaboration, and maintaining professional standards with accurate reporting

- Plan, budget, align and assign the projects in a way that maximizes the skills and internal resources available to support a series of projects
- Develop and implement unit processes and track performance measures to ensure successful delivery of projects
- Adhere to the Project Management methodology, policies, processes and core requirements, guiding the expectations for Project Manager knowledge excellence
- Manage program budgets and outcomes
- Provide support the pursuit of appropriate funding sources and approvals
- Manages, track and report program progress to ensure the program is on budget, on schedule, and within the defined scope and quality
- Lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture that supports the IIS Vision and Mission as well as the Corporate Leadership Principles
- Establish, demonstrate and hold others accountable to the values of the Department, Branch, Section and Unit
- Foster a culture of collaboration and networking amongst project teams, across the corporation and beyond
- Act as agent of change and fosters an open environment of continuous input and feedback from staff
- Lead the development of Climate strategies
- Prioritize competing climate demands
- Advise Climate team and leadership of emerging Climate strategies
- Develop project related reports for Council, Executive Leadership Team, Climate Leadership team and others as required
- Support the alignment of processes, competencies, leadership and culture to the strategy of the Section and Unit
- Translate strategy into operational processes, approaches, and competencies
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of project management processes and practices

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline is required
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in an environmental and energy management leadership role within a large, complex, unionized organization
- Progressively responsible experience managing the delivery of significant, complex and multi-dimensional projects
- Strong political acumen with the ability to navigate through politically sensitive situations creating an environment of trust and respect
- Proven planning and organization skills to manage program delivery
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex environmental scientific information and translate in a meaningful way to decision makers
- Demonstrated knowledge in relation to the City's two climate change plans and their complexity an impacts
- Solid understanding of change management theory and current best practices
- Proficient in interacting, communicating, influencing, and collaborating with diverse partners and stakeholders, from senior management to cross-functional teams, fostering innovative, collaborative relationships and sharing resources and information effectively
- Experience in contract management and procurement
- Demonstrated ability to use business acumen to make decisions
- Exceptional communication skills, encompassing both verbal and written proficiency, report writing, and presentation abilities, along with strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution expertise
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with mínimal supervision as well as in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions with an understanding of budgetary and political implications
- Proficient in critical issue analysis, decision-making, solution recommendation, and information management
- Utilizes leadership skills to manage resources, guide staff organization-wide, and address escalated issues with a solution-oriented approach
