The YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for an experienced accounting professional to lead the Association’s accounting and reporting functions including the maintenance of its fiscal records, information reporting, data systems, and the preparation of its financial reports.

As an experienced leader, you will supervise and lead members of the Finance team and be accountable for the following: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, cash management, month-end and year-end close. This position will be responsible for ensuring excellent internal and external service is provided by the Finance team and will be engaged in various functions supporting senior leaders through the completion of special projects and ad-hoc reporting.

**Hours of Work: Full-Time**

**This is a temporary position lasting up to 20 months, providing coverage for an extended leave**

**Essential Functions**
- Responsible for leading and ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements for all branches of the Association, including detailed variance analysis.
- Responsible to work closely with the General Manager, Finance, to anticipate and address expected questions and information requests from internal Operations Teams or external from volunteer members of the Audit and Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for general accounting functions including supervising accounting processes and teams working within the Association Services group.
- Responsible for day-to-day cash management and making recommendations for the appropriate handling of short-term cash investments.
- Responsible for influencing, guiding, and serving as a resource to all Association staff team members with respect to the understanding, development, and compliance with prescribed administrative and financial policies, procedures and practices and to provide input, guidance and at times, direction for the development of new administrative and financial practices.
- Responsible for ensuring the Association has an appropriate system of internal controls and that compliance is achieved, and continuous improvements are made. In this way, responsible for overseeing the financial assets of the Association.
- Responsible for supporting the set-up of accounting structures, financial and administrative processes, and related financial reporting for new service delivery opportunities within the Association branches.
- Responsible for the improvement of financial processes, through leveraging financial systems, continual process improvement and automation. Responsible for ensuring financial reporting and internal controls remain appropriate in response to various internal and external changes.
- Responsible for the external audit process and results for three charitable entities and related government funder audits and review engagements.
- Responsible for the external financial reporting requirements of the Association and related entities for Canada Revenue Agency, Statistics Canada, and other levels of government.
- Responsible for ensuring internal YMCA staff team members, members, program participants’ families, donors and volunteers receive excellent customer service from the Finance team.

**What You'll Need for this Job**
- Accounting designation (CPA).
- 5 years of senior level Accounting/Finance experience.
- Experience mentoring, coaching and motivating team members.
- Superb communication skills (written and verbal), sound judgment and ability to learn quickly while working in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with Salesforce, Oracle NetSuite and SAP Concur would be considered an asset.
- Detail oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills.
- Experience with full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, analysis, forecasting, and budgeting in a multi-location environment.
- Experience working in a cross-functional and highly matrixed organization.
- Individual should demonstrate initiative and be able to work independently.
- Ability to produce a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
