Devil’s Island, Lake Temagami

**Dates**: May 27th to August 18th, 2024(start and end dates are negotiable)

**There is no charge for room and board or transportation to and from the island.**

**Description**:Live and work in a beautiful and pristine environment. The clear water of Lake Temagami surrounds our 50-acre island, and our camp community is eager to welcome a committed and focused Second Cook. Our kitchen provides the freedom to create healthy and hearty camper-friendly meals.

Keewaydin does not serve your typical kid's camp food. We pride ourselves on making everything from scratch and serving hearty/healthy fare to our hungry canoe trippers. Baking skills are necessary as all baked goods (including some bread) are prepared in the Keewaydin kitchen. Locally sourced produce, eggs, cheese, and garden-grown herbs are available in the Keewaydin kitchen.

Boat transportation to and from the island is provided—there is free parking at Manitou Landing, at the end of the Temagami Lake Access Road. We can help support travel from the town of Temagami or North Bay.

The island has laundry facilities, and all amenities are available for the staff (e.g., swimming areas, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and tennis courts).

Wifi is available in common areas at Ojibway.cell reception has not reached us yet.
- A current food Handlers Certificate is required. The Food Handlers certification must be completed before arriving on the island. Keewaydin Canoe Camp will cover the cost of obtaining the Food Handlers Certificate.
- Enthusiasm for the outdoors and an eagerness to embrace our lodge's rugged and remote setting.
- Ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced environment, showcasing excellent problem-solving skills.
- Organization skills with attention to detail and excellent time management.

**Physical Aspects of Position** (include but are not limited to)**:

- Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

**Salary**: A per day rate based on experience
