Together, we provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. **You must be enrolled as a student in a post-secondary Journalism program to be considered for this position.**

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a summer intern who, as part of our Legislative Services Division, in Toronto, ON, will provide a range of administrative support and clerical services to members of the Press Gallery. This is an exciting opportunity for journalism students who are interested in covering politics to work closely with veteran political reporters.

**What You’ll Do**:
**You’ll act with integrity to**:

- Work collaboratively with Press Gallery members, visiting media, government ministries and agencies, and interest groups
- Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public in a politically sensitive and non-partisan environment

**You’ll support our collaboration as you**:

- Conduct research of newspaper on-line editions and government websites to obtain information about press releases relevant to Queen’s Park media and legislation in Ontario
- Notify members of the Press Gallery of all press conferences by electronic media.
- Record and transcribe scrums and press conferences and make the transcripts available to reporters in a timely fashion
- Assist Gallery members with research as requested
- Assist officers of the Press Gallery in membership activities and special events

- Enrolment as a student in a post-secondary Journalism program
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent transcription skills, including good grammar and accurate spelling
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of provincial politics and government
