Physician Assistant - Permanent Full-Time

The Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre (ERHHC) Emergency Department is currently
seeking a FT physician assistant (PA) to join our team. As the physician assistant you will be part of
an interdisciplinary team consisting of physicians, registered nurses, medical and nursing student
learners, medical residents, and other allied health professionals.
ERHHC utilizes a “Patients First” philosophy to service a catchment area population of
approximately 15,000. Our integrated health campus is a modern state of the art facility featuring a
24-hour emergency department, a 15-bed acute care inpatient unit, a 64-bed long term care
facility. We also offer a full range of services from cardio diagnostics, medical lab, and diagnostic
imaging. The PA will have the privilege to work in the emergency department with our clinical team
in providing patient care for an average of 14,000 ED visits per year. A formal orientation program
as well as mentorship and training from our physicians will be provided.

The responsibilities of the physician assistant will be as follows:

- Patient assessments including full history and physical examinations.
- Ordering investigations including labs and diagnostic imaging.
- Initiation of treatment including, but not limited to, pharmaceuticals, suturing and casting as

per the medical directives from our physician team.
- Disposition planning in consultation with the on-call physician
- Assist in transferring and escorting patients to other healthcare facilities.
- Administrative tasks including the review and audits of abnormal labs and imaging reports.

**Requirements**:

- Graduate of a recognized physician assistant program or equivalent
- Certified by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada
- Eligible to work in Ontario, Canada
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively in both oral and

written English while communicating with patients, members of the public, colleagues, and

other health disciplines.
- Possess the ability to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessments and the

development of appropriate management plans in accordance with the medical directives.
- Proficient and appropriate use of diagnostic and procedural skills
- Proven to have effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.

- Possess the ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care

- Demonstrates the ability to provide basic computer skills.
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have a medical

exemption pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

This position offers a competitive compensation package including paid vacation and sick leave,
health and dental benefits, life insurance and pension plan. The starting wage for this position is
$50.661 - $57.020 per hour depending on experience.
