Job Summary

MHHS Volunteer Program Coordinator recruits and screens volunteers to participate in volunteer programs in partnership with MHHS and JSA (Jewish Seniors Alliance). The incumbent acts as a key resource person by advertising, mobilizing and recruiting volunteers for the success of the program.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for building trusting relationships with senior volunteers as well as volunteers of all ages, JSA and MHHS.

Duties include the following, but not limited to:
**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, organize and streamline a volunteer database of participants;
- Connect with various organizations and networksm build relationships to obtain, recruit interested volunteers;
- Submits program statistics reports;
- Ensure sufficient enrollment of volunteers in the volunteer training programs at JSA;
- Develop, build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with volunteers;
- Interview potential volunteers and match their talents with program needs;
- Oversee a volunteer recognition program including awards, events, picnics etc;
- Track all volunteer hours and create reports;
- Work with other staff to organize regular volunteer trainings as needed;
- Facilitate good communication and relationships with and between volunteers;
- Attends weekly staff meetings;
- Helps in promoting events, activities and workshops;
- Encourages clients to commit and participate in a special task force of volunteers;
- Performs other related duties that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree or diploma in Counseling, Volunteer Management, Social Services and at least two years of experience working with vulnerable communities and volunteers;
- Ability to speak a second language, fluency in Tagalog is an asset;
- Strong organizational, writing, verbal and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to set priorities and work effectively under pressure;
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, the community, organizations, staff and volunteers;
- Demonstrates tact, congeniality and works well independently as well as part of a team;
- Able to handle information with confidentiality and sensitivity;
- Demonstrates initiative and willingness to accept responsibility in handling work requests;
- A valid driver’s license (class 5) is an advantage
- Criminal record clearance (vulnerable sector)

Wages

This is a part-time position, 15 hours per week, $21 per hour, with CPP, EI, WCB and 6% vacation.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 11 months

Pay: Up to $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
