**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**JOB TITLE: Technology and Employment Support Specialist (Canada Summer Jobs)**

**REPORTS TO: Technology Services Manager; Employment Services Manager**

**OVERVIEW**

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide clients with technology training, including computer basics, Windows, Microsoft Office, and assistive technologies to clients, local businesses, and fee-for-service clientele
- Assist clients with resume writing, job searching and interview preparation
- Assist clients with establishing job seeking skills, positive attitudes, and interview readiness
- Assist clients with ergonomics and other workstation accommodations
- Complete skills assessments and evaluations to determine the interests, aptitudes, and abilities of clients
- Build ongoing relationships with each client and develop accommodation plans for both work and learning.
- Regularly assess and re-evaluate clients’ progress and adjust training plans as required to meet individual needs
- Create weekly summaries of client progress and document client progress through up-to-date case management tracking.
- Develop and deliver instruction geared to assisting clients with disabilities or barriers to acquire new skills for engagement, employment, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

**JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**
- Must be legally permitted to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number (Citizen,

Permanent Resident, and/or approved Refugee Status)
- Previous Computer Instructing experience considered an asset
- Proficient with Windows, Mac, Chrome, Android, and iOS environments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and One-Note
- Experience with Assistive Technology such as speech-to-text software, text-to-speech software, screen readers, note-taking software, and adaptive peripherals
- Cross-functional team player and collaborator with excellent communication, and relationship building skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Highly flexible, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse client base
- Demonstrated knowledge of the community and social programs

**POLICE RECORDS CHECK AND VULNERABLE POSITION SCREENING**
This position requires incumbents to submit a current Police Records Check and Vulnerable Position

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
This position will require the incumbent to work in a seated position for part of each day for administrative responsibilities, with mínimal lifting requirements. There is some exposure to dust, dirt, odors, noise and temperature. The incumbent may be required to deal with individuals, including alone or in close confines, who may be potentially dangerous and / or exposed to rudeness or profanity.
