Under the direction of the Manager, Facility Services the Supervisor, Facility Operations is responsible for the day to day delivery of activities of Facility Operations - including Pools, Ice Rinks, Gymnasiums, Programmable and Meeting Space, Indoor and Outdoor Facilities within Facility Services of the Parks & Facility Services Department. This position is responsible for and ensuring efficient facility operation cleaning standards including planning and controls, such as risk management, security and emergency plans. Ensures compliance with corporate procedures, safety standards, guidelines, bylaws and appropriate legislation.

Job Requirements

**Credentials**
- Facility Management Diploma or certification from a recognized institution as well as progressive experience to a supervisory level in facility operations and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Refrigeration “B” ticket
- Certified Ice Technician
- Certified Pool Operator
- Forklift operation certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Class G Driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.

**Knowledge/Skills Required**
- Demonstrated responsible experience at a supervisory level with the ability to balance the needs of staff when making decisions that are in the best interest of the Town.
- Strong customer service orientation, interpersonal, consultative, problem-solving, analytical, presentation skills and collective agreement administration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of budget preparation and management. Working knowledge of budgets, both operational and capital.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as energy management systems.
- Practical working knowledge of all aspects gained through certification of pool and arena operations, equipment and maintenance and applicable legislation of governing bodies.
- Knowledge of First Aid, WHMIS, propane safety, and fork lift operation.
- Working knowledge gained through certification of refrigeration plant equipment and applicable legislation of governing bodies.
- Background knowledge in mechanical areas to troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to develop specifications and make recommendations on the purchase, and implementation of new equipment and mechanical components.
- Ability to operate all vehicles/equipment in the facilities e.g. ice resurfacing units, edger’s, snow blowers, tractors, ride-on floor scrubbers, forklifts, man lifts and train staff on such when required.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff, suppliers, contractors, other departments and levels of government.
- A working knowledge of various trades including construction, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and energy management.
- Knowledge of asset management in order to understand life expectancies of mechanical assets, such as HVAC units, refrigeration equipment and other various facility amenities and equipment, which supports the commission’s asset management program.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, bylaws, legal proceedings and the ability to interpret legislation such as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act as well as the Technical Standard Safety Authority Regulations.
