**Job Purpose**

The Accounting Manager at Park Lawn Limited Partnership, a division of Park Lawn Corporation, is accountable for the finance and accounting operations of Park Lawn Corporation’s Canadian cemeteries division. The incumbent will assist in preparing financial statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of the Controller.

The Accounting Manager will assist the Divisional Controller with forecasting, budgeting, analysis, production of individual financial statements and reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of control and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with IFRS.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Reporting**
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and operating result analysis
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual reporting package for public company reporting
- Compile and report operational data as required by senior management and VP’s
- Participate in the production of annual budgets and forecasts
- Calculate variances from budgets and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management reports
- Ensure statutory reporting requirements are completed in a timely and accurate manner

**Management**
- Oversee and support the day to day operations of PLLP’s accounting department for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
- Assisting in the formulation and monitoring of internal controls and policies to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory requirements
- Manage journal entries, invoices, etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
- Partner with Operations to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency
- Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making
- Preserve updated knowledge of CRA and accounting requirements
- Maintain and manage corporate credit card program for cemetery operations
- Support accounting staff at subsidiary companies

**Compliance**
- Assist in the coordination of government audits, year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements
- Review the Company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy

**Job Qualifications**
- Experience producing financial statements and reports
- Experience managing a small team
- Strong understanding of day-to-day account and accounting concepts and principles particularly surrounding period end close.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in accounting or finance
- 3+ years of experience in a senior level accounting position, or similar progressive related work experience
- CPA accounting designation or in-progress considered a strong asset
- Ability to travel occasionally within Canada
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience and proficient in using QuickBooks enterprise
- Previous experience working for a public company is a strong asset
- Previous experience working in the cemetery and/or funeral industry is a strong asset
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
