Research Manager, Clinical Neurosciences

**Description**
This position reports to the Principal Investigator.
The Research Manager's primary role will be to direct and manage the research program. This includes developing and implementing research projects as well as directing staff research activities. In order to accomplish this the Research Manager will use their research expertise and experience in clinical neuroscience to establish projects for summer students, master's students, PhD/Postdoctoral students and staff in consultation with the Principal Investigator (CaPRI Co-Leads).
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Project Direction and Leadership:
- Direct and manage the research program
- Develop, design, and implement research projects for summer students, graduate & post-doctoral students, as well as research staff in conjunction with the Principal Investigator
- Developed and implement the scientific vision of the Principal Investigator
- Establish and maintain a multi-faceted research team in conjunction with the Principal Investigator
- Manage performance and development of individual team members to maximize success and motivation
- Oversee research progress and adjust project objectives as necessary
- Oversee development of technical protocols
- Contribute to departmental administration (organizing meetings, journal club, seminar series)
- Oversee the development and management of the lab budget
Research:
- Conduct clinical research into Parkinson's disease using validated clinimetric tools
- Conduct pre-clinical research into Parkinson's disease as directed by the PIs and CaPRI researchers
- Analyze data as directed by the PIs
Staff Management:
- Responsible for working with Principal investigator to determine positions that would support the strategic goals of the Research group
- Manages the creation of job profiles, hiring, and onboarding of staff
- Performs and engages staff in annual performance reviews
- When required, performs disciplinary, including terminations, actions
- Oversees the complete range of human resource management for operational staff
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Commensurate experience in management of clinical neuroscience projects
- Appropriate knowledge of Parkinson's disease and related disorders
- 3-5 years of related research and management experience
- Experience hiring and managing staff in a unionized environment an asset
- Advanced knowledge of research administrative procedures is required
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
- Must possess above-average interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-directed, enthusiastic and honest in the performance of duties
- Ability to manage time effectively and determine priorities as well as delegate tasks appropriately
- Hold a superior understanding of the University environment
- Knowledgeable in writing medical/scientific research protocols
- Experience in writing medical/scientific literature for publication
- Strong scientific and academic writing skills required
- Proficiency with databases, research data management, and statistical software
- Knowledge of research design and basic knowledge of biostatistics
- Experience in working with internal/external teams to manage and grow a project and/or program
