We are looking for a dedicated recruitment specialist to join our VOICE volunteer program. The specialist manages the entire volunteer recruitment function based on needs identified in the VOICE project.

The recruitment specialist is responsible for all aspects regarding volunteers and the organization they work for, from recruiting new volunteers and promoting volunteer opportunities to conveying the organization's purpose to the public. A recruitment specialist arranges all the details of volunteering and keeps all parties informed.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and focused recruitment specialist to be responsible for our database of volunteers and volunteer opportunities. The recruitment specialist’s responsibilities include all recruiting functions and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed.

A successful recruitment specialist should be meticulous about keeping records and passionate about the role and work of volunteers. The recruitment specialist should uphold the values of our organization while ensuring the safety and security of our volunteers on assignment.

The successful recruitment specialist has excellent interpersonal skills, is organized and detail-oriented, keeping informed about emerging volunteer requirements.

**KEY TASKS**

**Managing interview screenings**. The recruitment specialist is the first point of contact between CDF Canada and the potential volunteer. The specialist has a strong knowledge of the volunteer requirements for each position and, at times, may conduct a screening interview to ask important baseline questions that assess an applicant’s fit for the assignment. They may involve or make recommendations to the Country Program Officer for further interviews.

**Managing recruitment activities.** The recruitment specialist goes beyond the computer screen and organizes job fairs, attends conferences or post secondary events, and more. These types of events are highly effective as it’s common to conduct in-person interviews at the same time.

**RESPONSIBLITIES**
- Plan and schedule all volunteer activity:

- Proactively ensure there is an ongoing roster of volunteers to support current and upcoming assignments.
- Develop and implement effective volunteer recruitment strategies; develop and steward relevant relationships for recruitment and referrals.
- Organize, coordinate, and participate in volunteer recruitment events and promotional opportunities. This includes opportunities at post-secondary institutions and with other partners.
- Develop job descriptions and postings for each assignment.
- Conduct volunteer orientation, which includes safety & security training; Orient volunteers to ensure an in-depth understanding of the in-country culture, assignment requirements and responsibilities.
- Facilitate the preparation of volunteer contracts in a timely manner according to the recruitment process; ensure signed contracts are filed accordingly and upcoming end dates are monitored.
- Ensure that detailed records are maintained according to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure clarity of assignment expectations e.g. sharing relevant photos while on assignment, gathering impact stories based on volunteer’s work, becoming a CDF Canada Ambassador, make presentations about volunteer experience, referrals to postings through the volunteer’s network/promoting volunteer opportunities.
- Ensure safety and security of volunteer while on assignment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the privacy statement as set out in CDF Canada policies and procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE**
- Proven experience as an HR recruitment specialist or volunteer recruitment specialist; experience with recruitment processes and databases.
- Post-secondary education in human resources, or volunteer management.
- Experience working with international volunteer sending programs is an asset.
- Fluent oral and written English; Bilingual (English & French) is an asset.
- Knowledge of International Safety and Security measures is an asset.
- The ability to conduct different types of interviews.
- The ability to design and implement successful recruiting strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency using Access data base.
