**Overview**:
Toronto Chinatown BIA is a non-profit community-based organization to help promote and improve the local businesses and neighbourhood and draw visitors and locals to eat, shop and explore this heritage area. Chinatown BIA is looking for ONE Social Research Assistant to join our team.

**Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility**:
This job placement is funded by Canada Summer Jobs Program, applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred; and be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.

**Employment Terms**:

- Contracts from June 01st to August 31st 2023, 13 weeks long.
- 35 hours per week (weekend hours and overtime are required).
- Must be comfortable working on-site in Chinatown, Downtown Toronto, Ontario.
- Hourly rate: $15.50-$16.50 per hour.

**Qualifications**:

- Be comfortable working within the Asian community;
- Possess strong communications skills (written and verbal);
- Possess excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Be able to use basic software and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Google Workplace;
- In order to better serve our community members who don't speak English as their first language, the ability to communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese is a strong asset.

**Major Responsibilities and Associated Duties**:

- Support the Executive Committee and Chinatown BIA staff (and contractor, if applicable) to conduct background research for long-term projects for Chinatown, including Themed Murals, Huron Square Activation, Chinatown Cultural Center, and China Gate.
- Research on library archives, interviewing community stakeholders remotely, outreach to other Chinese communities or ethnic communities in major cities around the world.
- Produce reports and present them to the CBIA Executive Committee.
- Assist in the organization of office documents and archives. Help out with office tasks overloads as directed by the Administrative Director.

**Salary**: $15.50-$16.50 per hour
