As a member of the Group Tours department, the Group Tours Planner represents the Journeys brand, creating and planning day tours or multi-day tours for our members based on member feedback, ‘known to be’ favourite destinations and travel trends.

In addition to planning the tours, the Group Tours Planner uses their exceptional interpersonal skills to promote sell and host single-day or multi-day tours, which requires 15-20% of travel time out of the office on an annual basis.

Primary

**Responsibilities**:

- Research destinations for single-day tours, multi-day tours and special interest groups (including transportation, accommodations, activities and restaurants)
- Design and plan single-day or multi-day tour itineraries, pricing and promotional information
- Coordinate all details of the tour including reservations, supplier payments and ticket assignment
- Prepare, co-ordinate and close day tour departures
- Prepare correspondence to customers in the bi-monthly mailing including pulling lists, creating labels and envelopes for mailing
- Updating the monthly Day Tour Flyer, including printing, distributing to branch offices and marketing department
- Conduct training of tours to varies internal departments when required
- Directing/hosting group tours - day tours and overnight tours throughout the year
- Cater to members needs and coordinates the group while hosting single-day or multi-day tours to create a rewarding member experience
- Uses exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships with travelers
- Promotes and sells single or multi-day tours through various forums including presenting to select groups on group tours itineraries, with assistance from the Group Tours Manager
- Other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
- Strong attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of tourism destinations
- General bookkeeping/accounting experience and an understanding of pricing strategies
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Solid communication and presentation skills
- Proficient in MS Office, online bookings and administrative tasks
- Proven ability to learn new systems quickly - computer savvy
- TICO certification is a must (completed, or working towards)
- Must be or obtain First Aid certification

Education & Experience
- 3+ years of customer service experience
- 2+ years in the travel and tourism industry; group tours planning experience is considered an asset
- Administrative experience preferred

Working Conditions
- Working in an office environment with frequent interruptions.
- Must be flexible for non-traditional working hours - for example, directing/hosting single or multi-day tours
- Must have a valid passport and able to travel outside Canada when required
