Ophthalmic Assistant/Surgical Coordinator

Ophthalmic Diagnostic Services is currently seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant/Surgical Coordinator that is highly ambitious, energetic, and hardworking to join our amazing team at our downtown Toronto office.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Counsel patients with respect to different cataract lens options.
- Perform cataract measurements and calculations on patients with respect to different lens options
- Schedule cataract and glaucoma surgeries for patients from two different offices at two different surgical facilities.
- Maintain surgical wait list.
- Preparing and submitting paperwork including consents, surgical calculations, lens orders, surgical supplies and instructions for patients to the surgical facilities in advance.
- Liaise with external surgery facility staff to book surgeons surgery dates at facilities.
- Book and inform patients of pre-and post-operative appointments and surgery dates.
- Review surgical expectations with patients and families.
- Updating patient surgery charts and tracking forms
- Handle high volume of patients during clinic
- Perform diagnostic testing on glaucoma patients (e.g. Visual Fields, OCT, Pachymetry, Tonometry)
- Perform front desk duties (i.e check in/out, faxes, answer phones, referrals)
- OHIP billings and submissions
- Keeping workstations and testing equipment clean and sanitized
- Other administrative duties as per the requirements of the Clinic.

Qualifications Required

- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast pace environment
- Ability to multi-task and follow steps and procedures as directed.
- The ability to communicate within the office and with patients in a pleasant, friendly manner overall.
- Passion for helping people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Thrives in a fast-paced and complex environment

**Work experience in an ophthalmology/optometry medical clinic for 1-2 years is definitely an asset.**

**Clinic hours 8:30am-5pm from Mondays to Thursday and 8:30 to 4pm on Friday.**

Please note that this is a full time job. Training will be provided.

Ability to commute/relocate:
