Baker / Pastry Chef

Mary Be Kitchen, an exciting and innovative fast-casual restaurant-cafe, is looking for a Pastry Chef / Head Baker to join our friendly and collegial team and lead the pastry program at Mary Be. Everything that we serve is made from scratch in our Yonge and St. Clair kitchen.
Our pastry program focuses on rustic, comfort baking, with standard and alternative ingredients. We make the city's best salted chocolate chip cookies, as well as fudgy sweet potato brownies, hearty granola bars, fruit-chia compotes, granola, buttery biscuits, and cinnamon swirls.
**PAY & PERKS**
- $18-$23 per hour depending on experience and responsibilities / Salary + benefits option available as alternative

**QUALITIES & QUALIFICATIONS**:
- You are a quick, efficient multi-tasker who can prioritize and stay energetic in a high-volume kitchen or bakery. You are calm under pressure.
- You have experience as a pastry-chef or baker, ideally in a medium to high-volume production environment. Experience with or interest in alternative baking (e.g. vegan, gluten free) is an asset, though not necessary.
- You are excited about our menu of vegetable-forward scratch-made comfort food.
- You are very reliable.
- You are able to work flexible hours, including mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays (though your shifts will usually be daytime, Monday to Friday).
- You are able to carry and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, stoop and bend, and stand and move for extended periods of time.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Prepare all baked goods, including cookies, brownies, granola bars, fruit compotes, granola, biscuits and cinnamon rolls, according to specs and recipes.
- Review and revise all recipes regularly, and work on development of new recipes or processes to improve the pastry program at Mary Be.
- Participate in ordering of raw ingredients for the pastry program.
- Maintain all work areas and equipment in an impeccably clean, sanitary and organized condition.
- Communicate effectively with management and front and back of house regarding inventory and quality of baked goods.
- Ensure proper rotation, labelling and dating of all products, and thoroughly document wasted product on waste sheets.

Pay: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
