Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director, Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Officer, Communications and Engagement will facilitate donor-centred engagement and stewardship through strategic touchpoints that show gratitude, enhance the donor experience, and inspire future gifts.
The Donor Relations Officer, Communications and Engagement, is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and targeted donor outreach and stewardship communications programs for donors at all levels, with a particular focus on major gift donors. Program responsibilities include planning, executing and evaluating donor communications and marketing vehicles including impact reports, feature stories and correspondence designed to ensure that Queen's donors are appropriately recognized and to nurture strong relationships with donors. This will require the incumbent to serve as project manager, editor and writer for a wide variety of print and electronic projects. The person in this role will work in collaboration with frontline fundraisers and centralized Marketing, Communications and Donor Relations staff, as well as with donors and other members of the Queen's community, including faculty, staff, senior administration, alumni, students, and volunteers.

A Brief Overview
This position develops and implements advancement communication initiatives. This position evaluates the outcomes of advancement communication initiatives and implements changes for improvement. This position gathers information and content to support the publication of feature stories on faculty, staff, senior administrators, community partners, alumni, sponsors, and benefactors.
What you will do
Develops all of the creative content for advancement initiatives.
Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates the success of broad-based initiatives.
Assesses the outcomes of initiatives, and designs and implements changes.
Interviews students, faculty, staff, senior administrators, alumni and benefactors to gather information for written and online products.
Creates and manages strategies for principal donor engagement, including identifying donor audiences.
Selects, writes and edits feature stories and social media posts for campus community communications and alumni and donor communications.
Create and revise new tax receipt letters on an annual basis.
Manages, coordinates and maintains all stewardship materials.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields. Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.).
Knowledge of relationship building, fundraising and stewardship considered an asset.
Previous experience building relationships with donors considered an asset.
Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset.
Experience in managing/developing strategic communication plans considered an asset. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Knowledge and Requirements
