(_Summer 2024_ Semester: _July 2, 2024_ - _August 9, 2024_; _Wednesday_ and _Friday_: _8:30AM - 11:30AM_; _In-Person_)_

**COURSE DESCRIPTION**:This course addresses the art of the Baroque period (approx. 1600-1750). It focuses on major developments in painting, sculpture, the decorative and graphic arts, and architecture in a time of profound political, religious and social change. Major topics include Counter-Reformation art and propaganda; art academies; global exploration, adaptation, and exchange; patronage and the emergence of a modern art market; aesthetic theory; classicism, antiquarianism and classical revivals; absolutism and aristocratic culture; town planning; the influence of theatre and opera; art and the scientific revolution.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Teaching and teaching-related responsibilities may include but are not limited to: course outline development, studio preparation and delivery inclusive of lectures, critiques, grading, mid-term evaluations and final evaluations/reviews; including responsibility for health & safety and meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- The successful applicant should have a terminal degree in art, design or relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience
- Experience teaching at the post secondary level is considered an asset, equivalent relevant experience will be considered
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty
