As a community-based service organization, Corbrook has been making an important contribution to the lives of people with disabilities and their families for over seventy years. We pride ourselves on delivering our services using a person-directed philosophy and approach. Corbrook offers services that include training and learning opportunities, employment preparation and placement, respite and supported community activities. Our services are offered in the community, at our two locations in the East and West of the city and at partner locations across the Greater Toronto
Area.

The Community Service Worker will contribute to the development and delivery of respite, life skills, recreational and employment programs for youth and adults with disabilities.

**Overall Accountability**:
The Community Service Worker reports to Corbrook’s service managers. This 8 week long, 35 hour/ week position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide individualized support to program participants online and in person to help them achieve their goals
- Facilitate online and/or in person workshops on a variety of topics
- Prepare and write outcome based curriculum for delivery of our online workshops
- Ensure and encourage an engaging, safe, interactive and empowering environment for participants
- Provide administrative supports as needed
- Ensure that Corbrook’s health, safety and risk policies and protocols are followed
- Prepare reports and documentation as required
- Liaise with and support all staff, when requested
- Other duties as assigned

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Critical thinker and problem-solver
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and/or evenings as per program, operational or participant need
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Excellent spoken and written communication
- Organized, ability to multi-task and deal effectively with stress
- A satisfactory Police Reference Check - Vulnerable Sector Search

**Additional Assets**
- Certification in CPR/First Aid and Safe Management/CPI, NVCI or MCCSS recognized crisis intervention training
- Fluency in ASL (American Sign Language) or a second language

**Requirements**:
This position is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
- Must be between the ages of 18-30
- Must be able to work 35 hours per week for 8 weeks May - August 2023
- Must be Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*_
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
