The COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKER (Summer Youth Program) will lead and support the Newcomers’ Centre’s 5- week Summer Youth Program. The Summer Youth Program enhances leadership skills of newcomer youth through recreational and educational activities that promote camaraderie, awareness about Canada, leadership, and sensitivity to other cultures. This position will be working in-person at our ACSA Newcomers’ Centre location.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan, supervise, implement and evaluate youth-centered activities;
- Lead specialized activities in one or more of the following program areas: healthy eating, active living, sports, dance, art, theatre, social skill building, team building, games and/or creative challenges;
- Coordinate with agencies to deliver workshops and other activities;
- Engage, facilitate and lead youth in indoor and outdoor activities including games and sports that are inclusive to all participants;
- Curriculum planning and development;
- Complete administrative duties as directed;
- Ensure activities are kept supplied consistently and well organized;
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each program participant all throughout the program period;
- Organize and lead field trips for newcomer youth;
- Conduct outreach for program participant recruitment;
- Support and supervise youth participants and volunteers;
- Work in a collaborative manner with other Youth staff and Newcomers’ Centre;
- Conduct Virtual programming if applicable;
- Assist in outdoor activities;

**Qualifications**
- Youth between 15-30 years old; preferably University graduates or currently enrolled in post-secondary education
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and legally entitled to work in Canada and either must be one of the following immigration status: be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, Convention refugee or Protected person;
- Must demonstrate involvement in developing and implementing youth programs;
- Public speaking and group facilitation skills an asset;
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Tech savvy and knowledgeable of youth activities;
- A positive attitude with creative and dynamic leadership skills;
- Excellent communication skills;

- Current police reference check is mandatory;
- Ability to speak another language is an asset;
- Preferably someone who has not been hired by ACSA Newcomers’ Centre under the CSJ Program in the past;
- Must be able to complete the full 8 week period;
- Newcomer Youth, BIPOC and those who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ is highly encouraged to apply;
- G2 or G Driver’s license and access to a car is an asset
