**COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKERS**

**(Canada Summer Jobs)**

**Newcomer and Settlement Department**

**Position Type: Contract 16 weeks, 30 hours a week**

**Pay rate: $15.50/hour**

**Contract Period: May 1 to August 18, 2023**

Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) is a multiservice not for profit agency located in Scarborough. We are looking for a mature, energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill the

**COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKERS **position to assist our team in providing settlement and integration services for newcomers. This position will be working in-person at our Newcomers’ Centre.
- Responsible for assisting the settlement team in providing information about newcomer resources to clients
- Responsible for assisting the language team in doing administrative work following up clients for their language sessions as well as assisting in English conversation sessions to enhance the newcomers’ language skills
- Lead the activities of the Seniors’ Café group
- Assist in digital literacy program
- Assist staff in filling out forms
- Assist in conducting outreach
- Support core services (Settlement and Integration, Orientation Sessions, Community Events, Language training, Workshops)
- Assist in receiving and organizing donations; lifting may be required
- Assist in data-entry
- Assist in workshop facilitation
- Provide administrative and reception support
- Work cooperatively with other staff to ensure a consistent and high level of client service
- Follow high quality standard procedures for receiving and directing calls and handling walk-in clients
- Perform other duties as required

**Qualifications**
- **Youth between 15-30 years old**:

- **Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, Convention refugee AND legally entitled to work in Canada**:

- Willingness to work in a group setting;
- Enjoys creating artistic and recreational activities;
- Some experience in teaching (i.e. tutorial, etc.);
- Ability to communicate well with others;
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- A positive attitude with creative and dynamic leadership skills;
- Ability to speak another language is an asset;
- G or G2 Driver’s license is an asset;
- Ability to lift atleast 20 lbs;
- **Newcomer youth who identify as LGBTQ+ and BIPOC are encouraged to apply**
