**Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association** is a non-profit community services agency. Since 1976, we have provided community support, home and personal health care services in a holistic manner to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those with medical needs in the Greater Toronto, York, and Mississauga regions.
With a staff of 500 members (including full-time and part-time staff) and the support of a pool of 850 active volunteers, we serve over 15,000 clients a year, including seniors and the physically disabled; 3,000 of whom are "home-bound" and frail.
**TITLE**:Program Worker
**TERM**: Full-time Permanent
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide social, education, and recreation assistance
- Assist with client-centered care and support for activities of daily living
- Assist with planning and organizing activities with other team members and volunteers based on clients’ cognitive and physical capabilities
- Assist with program preparation including purchase of program supplies, producing of program flyers, activity calendar, education material and etc.
- Assist with maintaining a safe environment for program operation including activity area cleanliness, equipment maintenance and inventory, etc.
- Provide administrative and clerical support for daily operation such as client’s scheduling, transportation arrangement, billing, data entry and filling, inquires, clerical support, ordering supplies etc.
- Perform food preparation and planning
- Provide onsite and virtual social and exercise program to the participants
- Keep all records organized and ensure a proper filing system is maintained
- Other duties assigned as required
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary education in social and health services at least at a Community College Level with work experience and knowledge in elderly social service, or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of working experience in senior care and community serivces
- Possess Physiotherapy aid, Kinesiology training or related health care credentials is an advantage
- Experience in delivering exercise training to elderly is an asset
- Sensitivity to recognize the aging and physical needs of elderly clients
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Possess a caring attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
- High degree of judgment and capacity to maintain confidentiality
- Available to work on evenings and Saturdays
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and CIMS
- Possess valid Ontario driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for work
- Proficiency in English and a second language that reflects the community served, eg. Cantonese, Mandarin
- Work on weekends and evenings as required
- Current certification in First Aid & CPR and Food Handling
- A valid vulnerable sector police record check completed within one year
