We are currently looking to hire a:
**Social Worker - Sexual Assault Domestic Violence**
**Permanent Part-Time position (17.5 hours/ week)**
**Reporting To**:Manager, Community Health Teams
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Community Health Teams, the Social Worker will provide short term counseling to persons over the age of 12, who are survivors of sexual assault or domestic violence. Referrals are received from The Scarborough Hospital, the community, self-referrals and the criminal justice sector. In partnership with internal and external stakeholders, this program also provides; advocacy, public education, training and community development through outreach activities.
Operating within their full scope of practice, the Social Worker will work co-operatively with all members of the interprofessional team to support individuals in need of their services. The Social Worker will participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of clinical programs and services for individuals in accordance with evidence based clinical guidelines and best practices.
The Social Worker will establish and maintain ongoing liaisons with the agencies and community resources that are relevant and necessary to the integration of SCHC client centered programs, and services.
**Key areas of responsibility**
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and trauma counseling/therapy for those clients referred for service.
- Maintain accurate and concise confidential EMR documentation pertaining to patient history and encounter data
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Contribute to clinical teaching and educating inter-professional team members
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in counseling strategies with survivors of sexual assault/abuse and/or domestic violence
- Act as a client advocate on individual and systemic issues
- Participate in chart audits and peer reviews
- Participate in case conferences and complete client referrals
- Willing to preceptor students from academic facilities
- Participate in ongoing research related to SCHC client groups
- Conduct group sessions/programs with Clients
- Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonable within the scope of the job.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Work
- MSW registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in counseling strategies with survivors of sexual assault/abuse and/or domestic violence
- Knowledge and awareness of issues related to trauma, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, immigration, mental illness, poverty and discrimination
- Three to five years of individual, and group trauma focused counseling/therapy experience working diverse communities
- Experience working in community health and in an interprofessional model of health and well being
- Experience and knowledge with the legal system as it pertains to sexual and physical assault
- Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
**Skills and Attributes**
- Knowledge and experience of staged trauma therapy
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in counseling strategies with survivors of sexual assault/abuse and/or domestic violence
- Excellent communication, organizational, decision making, interpersonal, time management, problem solving, counseling (individual and group work), assessment and computer skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of current theoretical frameworks and social work practice standards, including Anti-Oppression, Anti-Racism, Harm Reduction and Determinants of
Health approaches
- Oral/written fluency in other languages relevant to providing service in the role would be considered an asset
- Ability to liaise with community services/agencies in the development and implementation of joint treatment/ educational programs (schools, public health, Newcomer and settlement services)
- Current certification in CPR or willingness to become certified
- Excellent work performance and attendance record required
- Sensitivity to and awareness of culturally, racially, economically and socially diverse groups.
**Significant Working Conditions**
- Work at different clinical locations is required
- Flexibility of hours - evening and weekend work will be required
- Required attendance at team/staff meetings at different locations.
**Remuneration**:$32.08 - $39.21
