- Reporting to the Senior Manager, Staffing, Recruitment & Contract Services, Elementary Teaching, the _
- Recruitment Administrator, Elementary will be responsible for supervising and managing the recruitment _
- process for teachers and occasional teachers for the Board to ensure that schools are staffed to _
- complement, in accordance with collective agreement requirements and Board policies.**Summary of Duties**:
Co-ordinate the annual recruitment process for the staffing of assigned schools and
occasional teacher rosters;
Develop and maintain fair, consistent and equitable recruitment processes;
Supervise recruitment assistants;
Monitor and ensure information is current and up-to-date on the website, hotline and eligible to

hire teacher reporting system;
Enlist the assistance of Principals and Vice-Principals to support the implementation of the

recruitment process through the Elementary Teaching Office and family of schools;
Manage operational aspects, working in conjunction with Staffing Officers to identify

recruitment/staffing needs;

interview process for teacher applicants, and completion of reference checks for successful
teacher applicants;
Manage the development and maintenance of the eligible to hire lists and advise principals
concerning procedures for selecting teacher applicants to ensure that selections are made in
accordance with the terms of collective agreements, Board Policies and the Ontario College of
Teachers;
Provide workshops and training for Principals and Vice-Principals with regards to recruitment,
hiring and employment equity;
Review and advise professional development needs in the areas of recruitment, hiring and
training for Principals and Vice-Principals;
Support the staffing process, facilitate the communication of information to Staffing Officers
regarding the hiring of new teachers and the filling of vacancies;

Participate and support various committees (e.g. Occasional Union-Hiring Staffing Review
Committee, Elementary Teaching Office Advisory Council and Employment Equity Council)

Manage an annual review of the recruitment process involving TDSB staff;
Collect relevant data and prepare an annual report projecting the system needs in terms of

number of teachers and qualifications needed to fully staff schools and the occasional teacher
rosters;
Co-ordinate visits to University career fairs;
Manage recruitment and monitor how resources are being allocated;
Participate in the budget development process;

Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

Three year community college diploma in Business Administration-Human Resources with
three years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Proven ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with staff, and
internal/external organizations;
Proactive service orientation with an awareness and sensitivity to issues of equity and
diversity;
A team player with excellent interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills;
Strong computer skills that include word processing, databases, spreadsheets, HR/Payroll

Information System, applicant tracking systems (Winocular);
Excellent project management skills, time management, supervisory and leadership skills;
Knowledge and understanding of Board and/or departmental policies and procedures,

collective agreements, employment/labour legislation relating to teacher qualifications, Ministry
directives, Ontario College Of teachers policies and requirements, benefits plans, etc;
Proven ability to prepare accurate reports and work under pressure in order to meet frequent
deadlines;
Ability to take initiative, analyze and problem solve;
Proven ability to work with confidential employee information; and
Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment.

**Special Requirements**:
Occasional travel
