**The opportunity**:
Under the general direction of the IT Manager, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, the incumbent is responsible for managing and maintain datacenter database servers in our secure environment. Must have ability to provision new instances of SQL Server, oracle, and ancillary software solution as required by faculty needs. Actively participate and provide advice on database operations, scripts, stored procedures, and complex relational logic to support the Application, Development, different teams within the unit. The incumbent will be required to conduct research, analysis, and profiling to develop methods to improve database performance, functionality, recoverability, and availability. As per the requirements, the DBA will lead & assist with database platform migrations e.g., Oracle/SQL Server to PostgreSQL. As a Cloud database administrator, provide hands-on operational supporting our production cloud platform to ensure reliability, recoverability, and optimum performance.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- A university degree in a related field or equivalent experience demonstrated by progressive responsibilities is required.
- 3+ years of working experience as a cloud database administrator is preferred.
- Effective interpersonal, as well as oral and written communication skills, are required.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload is required.
- Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate needs is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
