Finance Officer

**Description**:The Assembly of First Nations is seeking a detail oriented and highly organized Finance Officer responsible for ensuring that costs are allocated according to established procedures and in accordance with approved budget, monitoring, maintaining, and overseeing the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, travel expenses, and service contracts. The Finance Officer must comply with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Duties include perform day to day financial activities including accounts payables and receivables, printing cheques, preparing electronic fund transfers; prepare journal entries, month-end accruals; prepare month end account reconciliations; review GST, PST, QST and NRT returns and payments; assist in solving issues/challenges within finance area; and prepare financial reports.

Applicants must possess:
- A University degree in commerce, business, or accounting
- A minimum of 2-5 years of accounting experience
- Significant knowledge and understanding of current and acceptable financial practices and procedures
- A high degree of trust and confidentiality
- Knowledge of AFN, First Nations organizational structures key mandates
- Self-motivated, team player excited to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and follow through in a timely manner
- Superior financial calculation understanding, knowledge and skills
- Attention to detail and a dedication to accuracy
- Resourceful, proactive, reliable, trustworthy, and assertive when necessary
- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional & discrete manner
- Working towards a CPA designation will be considered an asset
- English is the working language; however, the ability to work in both official languages or an Indigenous language is an asset

**Description **:L'Assemblée des Premières Nations est à la recherche d'une personne soucieuse du détail et possédant un grand sens de l’organisation pour occuper le poste d’agent(e) des finance. Cette personne sera chargée de veiller à ce que les coûts soient répartis selon les procédures établies et conformément au budget approuvé, de surveiller, maintenir et superviser le contrôle des comptes et des archives dans des domaines tels que les décaissements, les frais de déplacement et les contrats de service. Le ou la titulaire du poste devra se conformer aux principes comptables généralement reconnus (PCGR). Les tâches comprennent l'exécution d'activités financières quotidiennes, y compris la gestion des comptes créditeurs et débiteurs, l'impression de chèques, la préparation de transferts électroniques de fonds, d'écritures de journal, de régularisations et de rapprochements de comptes de fin de mois, ainsi que l'examen des déclarations et des paiements de TPS, de TVP, de TVQ et de TNR, l'aide à la résolution des problèmes et des défis dans le domaine des finances et la préparation de rapports financiers.
- Diplôme universitaire en commerce, affaires ou comptabilité.
- Minimum de 2 à 5 ans d'expérience en comptabilité.
- Connaissance et compréhension significatives des pratiques et procédures financières actuelles et acceptables.
- Haut degré de confiance et de confidentialité
- Connaissance des mandats clés de l'APN et des structures organisationnelles des Premières Nations.
- Autonome, esprit d'équipe, enthousiaste à l'idée de travailler dans un environnement au rythme soutenu.
- Capacité de gérer plusieurs projets et d’en assurer le suivi dans les délais impartis.
- Compétences verbales et d'écoute, aptitudes en matière de communications, d’organisation et d’informatique, capacités avérées en ce qui concerne l’utilisation de programmes informatisés de comptabilité, de tableurs, de traitement de texte ainsi que de courrier électronique.
- Compréhension, connaissances et compétences supérieures en matière de calculs financiers.
- Souci du détail et de l'exactitude.
- Inventivité, proactivité, fiabilité, digne de confiance et capacité de convaincre lorsque nécessaire.
- Capacité de traiter des informations confidentielles avec professionnalisme et discrétion.
- La poursuite de l'obtention du titre de CPA sera considérée comme un atout.
