**Your Impact as Valuation Support**

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Valuation Support role contributes to the valuation activity of PVSC by performing a range of day to day functions. This position provides valuation process support in collaboration with the valuation teams for commercial, residential, mobiles and condominium properties. This position provides support with activities related to land services, ownership, permits, sales, leases, data input and validation.

**How You Will Contribute**

Land & Ownership
- Identifies opportunities to leverage and expand the use of mapping and geographical data in operational activities;
- Participates and contributes as a technical resource on property mapping and land ownership projects;
- Ensures reconciliation and consistency of land and ownership information and regularly updates databases;
- Coordinates issue resolution of land and ownership inquiries with municipalities, provincial Land Services, and valuation teams;
- Utilizes real estate listing services such as MLS and Viewpoint to update records and contribute to market valuation activities;
- Interprets and verifies property ownership information from documents that affect title/ownership;
- Reviews parcel descriptions and creates new parcels as required through interpretation of registered documents and plans;
- Manages the currency of land ownership, property location, and lot size changes of real property accounts in PVSC systems;
- Responds to land and ownership related inquiries, maintains effective working relationships, and ensures efficient workflows with PVSC stakeholders.

Valuation Support
- Ensures property classification and tax status is correct, identifies tax status changes, and issues requests for information from property owners;
- Communicates potential tax implications to municipalities and property owners;
- Provides support for the efficient and accurate production, maintenance, and delivery of PVSC’s annual assessment rolls;
- Works collaboratively with other PVSC teams and government agencies to help improve the quality of databases;
- Process filed roll changes to ensure property classification and tax status is accurate.

Sales
- Provides general support of the sales process by preparing property files, gathering, and compiling all available in-house data, locating related contact information, and providing any other office-based support.

Appeals
- Coordinates resolution of land and ownership appeals and processes where appropriate;
- Acts as a liaison between PVSC and the Provincial Land Services group.

Permits
- Triages, prioritizes, and reconciles building permits received from municipal units.
- Processes building permits via desk-top review;
- Notifies property owners using standardized notice templates when required.

**What You Bring**

You will possess a High School Diploma, and 3 years related work experience OR an acceptable combination of relevant training and work experience.

You will also have the following skills or experience:

- Working knowledge of the NS Assessment Act, Municipal Government Act, and land registration systems;
- Understanding of basic appraisal theory and principles;
- Mapping techniques as it applies to property mapping.

**Assets**
- Demonstrated proficiency of the LIN-NS and IASWorld databases;
- Knowledge of building construction and related terminology;
- General understanding of the real estate and its impact on the valuation process;
- Demonstrated ability to interpret survey plans, deeds, wills, and other legal documents;
- Familiarity with International Association of Assessing Officers standards.
