Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist

Vancouver, Canada RMDY Brands Full time

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced **Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist **to handle our social media channels at Riversol Skincare.

Our customers are mostly women over 45, so we’re looking for someone who can relate to and understand the challenges, life experiences, and joys faced by middle-aged and older women.

And despite what many think, our audience is on social media Facebook, of course. But also Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

We’re not looking for a “designer who does social media” to fill this role, although design absolutely plays a part. We’re more interested in someone with solid writing skills and has brave and compelling ideas for daaaays.

You understand that social writing and copywriting are not the kind of writing you learned in school. If you’re overly concerned about where a comma is placed, or if a sentence fragment sets you on edgethis is probably not the role for you. You should understand grammar and the rules of writing well enough to know when and where they can be broken.

You also need to get the social side of social media. It needs to be conversational, fun, and maybe a little weird. Our customers aren’t looking for perfection, so a glossy, pretty feed is not what we’re after. We want to see wrinkles (pun intended), quirks, and imperfections.

At Riversol we also market the Midnight Paloma brand. There will be some social media responsibilities here as well, likely ~10% of your time.

**Responsibilities**
- Plan, write, post, engage across our social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
- Support our brand by creating engaging, innovative, audience-appropriate, relevant, and fun social media content
- Plan and execute said content with copy, graphics, videos
- Collaborate with the content marketing manager, head of marketing, and creative team to facilitate the production of original social content
- Work with paid social team members to help amplify paid impressions
- Maintain a social media calendar for all platforms - which will be driven by the content marketing and promotions schedule
- Collaborate with marketing leadership for brand positioning and consistency
- Not afraid to take risks with social media posts and jump on (appropriate) trends.
- Look beyond best practices and be willing to stretch yourself. This means you are willing and ready to be uncomfortable and to fail - all with the goal of getting stronger and making breakthroughs.
- Build relationships with industry experts, partners, and influencers
- Monitor & implement lead generation initiatives
- Monitor social media trends and industry influencers to be able to identify new/cool opportunities, grow the brand’s visibility and join the social conversation (with a particular focus on the 45+ crowd)
- Optimize performance of campaigns with social media
- Engage with our audience (our Facebook community group has 8.5k members) through commenting, sharing, and encouraging engagement

**Skills**
- Copywriting: you understand how to captivate, entertain and educate your audience
- Strategy and planning social media
- Experience creating visual posts and short videos for social media that are on-brand and audience-appropriate. We do have graphic designers on our team who can support.
- Proven experience achieving social media goals for growing your followers and engagement
- Able to track and report on social media analytics and report post-campaign results and findings
- Experience using social media publishing tools, posting natively and working with analytics to report
- Experience collaborating with paid social pros for opportunities to reach more people
- You’re comfortable and willing to be in front of the camera for videos or still shots when the content calls for it
- You stay on top of trends, know how to incorporate them in your work (and when *not to), and have a great eye for detail/grammar (Easter eggs are a bonus)
- You’re creative, fun and engaging, but you also know how to write about important and sensitive topics while being respectful

**Job Details**
- **Compensation**. This position pays $65,000-$70,000 (negotiable, based on experience).
- **Location**. Onsite at our Vancouver, BC office (Railtown) - hybrid work is an option after an onboarding period
- **Full Time. **Monday-Friday 9:00am
- 5:00 pm
- **Medical and dental benefits** after a 3-month probationary period.

**Who you are**:

- 2+ years of experience in a social media, marketing, ecommerce or copywriting role (you can have more or less experience, but tell us why you think you’re perfect for this role)
- Eager to learn, grow and get better at what you do every day
- You have a track record of growing a social media program or creating social content that drives stellar results
- You’ve managed channels / communities with over 5K followers (and if you haven’t, tell us why you think you can with examples of similar situations or results)
- You understand that our audience
