Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounting, this position is responsible to take a lead role in contributing toward the accurate and timely completion of the Saskatoon Plant’s accounting requirements. You will assist with production accounting, milk receiving, inventory control, analysis and reporting. You will also assist with weekly financial report inputs, and period end close process. In addition to providing support to the purchase receiving and accounts payable processes, you will be required to create ad-hoc reports as required, and provide support for continuous improvement and team development initiatives as well as assist with any other duties as required.
- Daily Milk Receiving Data entry, and coordination of Milk balancing analysis
- Daily production input recording
- Daily Audit review of production generated
- Period End Journal entry support, accruals and various report writing;
- Support the purchase order receiving and accounts payable function.
- Work with stakeholders to track-down and rectify entry errors.
- Support on preparation and presentation of weekly and period end cost & financial reports that record actual costs versus budgeted costs broken out in various levels of detail on line item components.
- Participate in period-end inventory count, reconciliation process and inventory analysis.
- Recommends changes to manufacturing procedures when necessary to maintain product specifications, minimize waste, improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
- Reviews process documents and reports for accuracy and compliance with operating standards and takes action towards correction of deficiencies.
- Maintains neat, orderly and clean plant facilities, work areas and equipment to conform with safety, quality and sanitary standards.
- Actively participates in company safety program by enforcing compliance with all safety rules and regulations and takes prompt corrective action concerning any potential safety hazard.
- Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
- A strong team contributor.
- Other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

- Minimum of a business diploma in an accounting discipline but a University degree in accounting is preferred;
- Minimum of 2 years experience ;
- Proven organizational and communication skills;
- Knowledge of Saputo customer base and Dairy products industry an asset;
- Ability to work without direct supervision;
- Strong analytical skills, with an emphasis on recommendation for change ;
- Must be proficient in current position.
