**Location**: The Hybrid Work Plan developed for this role presently requires this position to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week (or more as required). Equipment provided by CMHA.

**DIRECT REPORTS**:
The Manager, People, and Teams oversees approximately 20 to 25 direct-service staff from multiple programs. From time to time, supervision will be provided to volunteers or students.

**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**:

The Manager ensures that CMHA’s staff talent philosophy is put into practice by working collectively with other members of leadership, and by continuously developing high-performing teams and contributing to the achievement of the organization’s goals and objectives.

The Manager provides the day-to-day management, leadership, supervision, development, and motivation of staff using empowerment and skill-building approaches and works closely with People and Culture (P & C) to attract, hire, and retain qualified, skilled individuals. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that service delivery staff act in accordance with provincial legislation, which includes: the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, PHIPA, the Substitute Decisions Act, and other relevant provincial statutes and common law. In addition, as a member of CMHA York Region’s management team, the Manager offers input and recommendations in a collaborative and effective manner to improve the processes, quality, and operations of all programs.

This role provides support and direction to staff through individual and team meetings and is responsible for the advancement of individuals within CMHA. The incumbent is responsible for identifying and communicating the day-to-day dealings of this growing organization regarding any staff performance issues, as well as training, educational, and development needs. The manager works within actual or functional collaboration models in decision-making for the success of their team(s).

**SCOPE**:
The Manager’s work typically involves supporting staff and making decisions within the following framework:

- Primary responsibility to ensure a supportive and safe work environment for staff through attention to the functioning of the staff teams and ensuring adherence to staff policies.
- Assists the Directors of Services and Director of Operations in finding resolutions to formal complaints from clients and families and implements solutions directly with staff.
- Ability to guide staff (potentially with leadership peers) in making decisions related to complex clinical situations such as suicide ideation and client/staff safety situations. In addition, strong leadership and facilitator ability are required to help staff consider all options and determine the best course of action.
- To obtain input and support from the Director of Operations, Directors of Services, and their peers. However, often decisions need to be made independently given time constraints.

**DUTIES**:
Within the matrix organizational structure, the Manager works closely with the Director of Services (and potentially other peers) to ensure the best service and work experience. Duties include but are not limited to:

- Staff Supervision and Service Metrics.
- Member of the Full Management Team providing input and recommendations as needed to the Senior Management Team.
- Triages client complaints, concerns, and inquiries as per the Incident Reporting policy and timelines for Family and Client Issues.
- Staff Training and Development.
- Recruiting and hiring in conjunction with actual or functional Dyad and with the Director of Operations to develop detailed hiring plans and onboarding processes that will ensure consistent achievement of the organization’s missions and build staff competencies.
- Preparation, reviewing, and monitoring of Budgets.
- Audit accountability and compliance for client file information in accordance with agency health record collection policies.
