**Dean, Health, Human Services and Post-Graduate Studies**

**Start Date: April 2023**

**Salary Range: $117,451.33 to $158,904.75**

**Location: Pembina Campus and/or remotely, as required**

Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, the Dean, Health, Human Services and Post-Graduate Studies is responsible for providing leadership to key academic portfolios, including the direct reports of the Program Managers of the Health, Human Services Post Graduate Studies portfolio, and the Academic Coordinators assigned to program clusters. Based out of the Pembina campus, the Dean will support the Institute’s academic partnership strategies that focus on domestic institutional and employer partnerships that drive program reviews with identification of new program offerings. These partnerships are reflective of the Institute’s vision and plans for growth that focusses on student pathways, career laddering and the smooth transitions between certificate, diploma and degree level programming. The Dean will be actively engaged in a number of internal actions orientated, decision-making committees that contribute towards institutional direction and adherence to the Strategic Plan. This role requires a highly motivated team builder and player that has proven experience as a senior administrator in a post-secondary educational environment.

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Advanced applied working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, as well as working knowledge of educational Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to organize, research and analyze data and prepare complex reports
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to create and engage teams to meet operational requirements (deadlines)
- Proven ability in handling conflict and resolution
- Ability and interest in engaging in self-directed and directed studies and undertake ongoing professional development
- Strong networking and alliance building skills
- Ability to undertake some evening and weekend work assignments with occasional regional, provincial and national travel

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Implement the key priorities outlined in the Academic and Strategic Plans, to contribute towards the vision of creating extraordinary opportunities for students in the classroom and work environments
- In collaboration with the Dean of Skilled Trades and Applied Technologies and the Manager, Academic Operations, review capital and operational requests associated with the academic programming and ancillary operations under their remit.
- Direct and support the continuous improvement of the academic programs under the portfolio
- Design and integrate the tracking of program performance via metrics that contribute towards evidence-based decision making in short and long term strategic planning
- Direct representatives of the Centre for Learning and Innovation (CLI) to ensure curriculum relevance, annual program reflections and quality assurance methodologies associated with institution requirements as well as those associated with articulations and/or accreditations
- In conjunction with the Manager of Academic Operations, Program Managers and the Academic Coordinators, ensure academic teams and activities are in compliance with institutional goals
- Actively participate in a number of key internal and external committees that contribute towards shaping institutional goals and strategies
- Actively engage in establishing alliances with a range of occupational communities to contribute to positive relationships with industry and business representatives
- Actively contribute towards developing student recruitment and job placement strategies
- Create and motivate teams to achieve excellence
- Consult and collaborate with the Vice President
- Academic on identification and implementation of operational activities that contribute towards the institutional vision of being industry driven, student focused and sustainable

**Education**:
**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
- Post-secondary education at an accredited university at an undergraduate level, in a related field of study or Post-Secondary education in an accredited College Diploma level Teacher Education program.
- A Master’s degree would be an asset.
- Teaching experience at a post-secondary level along with extensive knowledge in curriculum design and development, program planning, marketing, public speaking and management of human and physical resources
- Minimum of five years’ similar work experience in a post-secondary/educational environment
