**Organization Description**

Thunderbird Partnership Foundation is a national non-profit organization serving First Nations in Mental Wellness. Our mandate is set by three frameworks:
1. Honouring Our Strengths: A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issues Among First Nations in Canada

2. Indigenous Wellness Framework

3. First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum

Our core stakeholders are First Nations communities and the network of First Nations adult and youth treatment centres. To support the mandate, Thunderbird has two office locations, one based in a First Nations community in southwestern Ontario, and the other in the city of London, Ontario. This position is based out of the Delaware Nation office, near the village of Bothwell.

**Your opportunity**
- The Research Manager will be responsible for implementing the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation Research Plan and developing the Research function for the organization and its stakeholders.
- This highly skilled professional will provide and perform research work for Thunderbird Partnership Foundation that involves supervising a research team, planning, coordinating, and directing research projects; development of assessment tools; and survey processes.
- As a Research Manager, you are responsible for the completion of tasks on multiple concurrent project activities.
- All work will be guided by First Nations ‘rites of access’ protocol and ensure your own practice is consistent with Thunderbird’s ethical research policies, ethics, confidentiality, and procedures.

As the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation Research Manager, you will:

- lead and develop a Research Strategy, and establish who oversees research projects, and evaluates the research program/project’s effectiveness and impacts for the benefit of our key primary stakeholders.
- lead, develop and recommend research designs and results driven research.
- provide research expertise. Conduct various tests or experiments requiring creativity, foresight, and judgment. Perform complex analysis and examinations.
- conduct literature reviews, surveys, and other research functions on behalf of the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation.
- assist with the planning and direction of specific phases of research projects.
- provide high-level and strategic advice on research, interpret findings and analysis in Thunderbird’s ongoing or emerging initiatives.
- assist in development of parameters for Thunderbird Partnership’s Research Program, including research policies, ethics, confidentiality, and protocols.
- maintain knowledge of mandated regulatory/publicly reported data requirements as specified by federal provincial/territorial and other agencies.
- demonstrate ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data and create summary reports using statistical tools, charts and graphs.
- understand usage of, and create syntax, sampling, weighting data, as well as interpreting cross tabulations and various other types of analyses.
- conduct research and data analysis in relation to First Nations issues.
- effectively communicate research findings through multiple channels to community treatment partners, stakeholders and the general public.

**You bring**
- A PhD from a recognized university in Health Services/Information Management, Statistics, Business/Health Administration, Epidemiology or recognized equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year’s work experience in a research and data analysis environment or
- A Master’s degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in education, economics, epidemiology, public health, sociology, psychology, or biostatistics and four (4) year’s work experience in a research and data analysis environment.
- A Demonstrated proficiency in SPSS or SAS (i.e., fluency with syntax) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Advanced research and analytical skills.
- The ability to manage external and internal resources.
- The ability to supervise a research team and individual researchers.
- An independent work ethic and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- The ability to manage a diverse workload and tight timeframes.
- The knowledge of ethical guidelines in research including protocols specific to research with First Nations, Inuit and Métis populations.
- The ability to communicate in a First Nation language (would be an asset).
