One of Ottawa’s oldest licensed drinking establishments, The Prescott has hosted an array of celebrations from weddings to birthdays to iconic sporting events since 1941.
Today, it is lovingly known as a retro greasy spoon, channeling nostalgia to its days as a public house. Cherished by its regular patrons, The Prescott’s checkered history is an integral part of village lore. With offerings such as sandwiches, pizza, and classic pub fare, The Prescott is Little Italy’s go-to establishment for a great meal on Ottawa’s historic Preston Street.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Shift Lead will act as Manager on Duty when a Manager is not present and be responsible for supporting the in-venue day to day business operations.
**The Role**
- Acting Manager on Duty when General Manager is not present in the business
- Completes daily responsibilities and ensures that proper opening and closing procedures are followed so business operations are successfully set up and completed
- Participates in team service and will be required to own a section or station during low volume periods
- Runs daily shift huddle, role modeling the businesses standards and operating practices
- Leads by example and demonstrates passion for guest experience and strong desire to create Positive Shareable Experiences
- Follow the company’s operational policies and procedures to ensure safety of employees and guests during each shift
- Assists with guest issues and escalates as required
- Ensure all staff are in their uniforms and on the floor by scheduled time
- Supports employee onboarding and venue training
- Provides feedback to leadership team of employees shift performance and improvements to be made within an efficient operation
- Support with stocking and receiving of goods
- Assist with corporate, local sales, marketing programs and activations
- Flag any maintenance and repairs of equipment and services
- Completes end of shift reporting
- Monitors proper staffing levels to drive efficient service
- Facilitate voids and approve promo items as required, while keeping in line with the company’s guidelines.
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Valid Smart Serve Certificate
- Minimum 1 years experience as a Shift Leader /Key Holder /Supervisory role
- Experience in Hospitality /Food and Beverage required
- Availability on Friday and Saturday evenings
- Experience using software systems including Square & 7Rooms (training provided)
- A passion for positive experiences and exceeding customer expectations
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment

- Effective communicator with a positive and forward-thinking attitude
- Works collaboratively to help our team achieve its goals
- Strong troubleshooter with the ability to see challenges and provide creative solutions and recommendations
