**Main Purpose and Function**

The Program Assistant II works under the direction of a supervisor, primarily the Facility Rentals Supervisor or Special Events Coordinator supporting special events such as Festival of Lights, Sakura Days Japan Fair, the All British Field Meet, Sweet Sounds of Summer, Fleurs de Villes and Harvest Days, and facility rentals such as weddings and meetings at VanDusen Botanical Garden, Bloedel Conservatory and the Celebration Pavilion located at Queen Elizabeth Park.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**

Hours of work will vary and will include many evening and weekend shifts.

**Qualifications**
Education and Experience:

- Completion of Grade 12 and some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Special events experience is an asset
- Standard or Emergency First Aid with CPR-C required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Working knowledge of the behaviour, needs, and interests typical of participants of all ages
- Ability to effectively monitor activities and behaviour of participants
- Ability to assist in the planning and carrying out of special events or programs
- Ability to provide first aid as required
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other facility staff
- Ability to ensure the care, welfare, safety and security of patrons is prioritised

**Driver's License and Record Checks**:
A Police Information Check (PIC) that includes a Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement of this position.

The City’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination against COVID-19 is not required at this time.
