**Summer Children & Family Services Program Assistant**

**Location**: Métis Nation of Alberta Provincial Head Office, Edmonton AB

**Position Status**: Three (3) Full Time (40 hrs per week), Summer Students (May-August)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist with the development, implementation, and facilitation of programs for Métis children and families, including supporting children and family programming at summer events (Alberta Métis Fest, Family Camps, etc.).
- Act as support for event projects through various stages, ensuring standards of quality are met.
- Assist with building and managing event budgets, timelines, themes, and working documents (e.g. critical paths, tasks lists) that align with identified objectives.
- Collaborate with the Communications/Marketing team to support the promotion of programs and events.
- Liaise with vendors and stakeholders during the event planning process.
- Communicate updates, concerns, and details to the CFS team.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

**Skills & Competencies**

- Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks and long-term objectives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to switch between multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
- Ability to produce professional reports, documents, and presentations.
- Political and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Early Learning, Early Childhood Education, Human or Social Services, or related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of experience in events coordination or similar role is an asset. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
- Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.

**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta with notice is a requirement.
- Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Check.
