Summer Camp Leader

If you have a passion for working with children and would love to spend your summer in the beautiful river valley, our Summer Camp Leader opening is what your are looking for.

The Summer Camp Leader is employed for July and August full time working day shifts, Monday to Fridays. The Camp Leader will plan and implement high-quality week-long themed day camps that provide meaningful and age-appropriate activities for children ages 7 to 12 years old.

**Responsibilities**
- Supervises, leads, and instructs children and/or youth in a sports, arts & culture day camp setting.
- Works in a team environment to ensure every participant has a quality, safe, and fun experience while at the Royal Glenora Club.
- Creates a positive engaging atmosphere for participants and creates a fun, skill-building, and educational experience during lessons through games and activities that are safe and appropriate for all participants.
- Actively engages and supports children’s participation during head professional sport lead programs.
- Participates in program planning and evaluation of programs.
- Actively and enthusiastically participates in all aspects of the program including swimming, gym sports/games, arts & crafts and more.
- Guides and encourages active participation of all children in camp activities.
- Monitors attendance and safety of all participants.
- Set-up, take-down, and general maintenance of equipment and facility.
- Creates weekly plans of camps; plan all activities and outings in advance in order to communicate information to parents and participants.
- Demonstrates leadership, energy, and enthusiasm to the summer camp environment each day.
- Actively communicates with families and recreation Manger for updates.
- Administers first aid in case of injury and completes an incident.

**Qualifications**
- 2 years experience working with and supervising children.
- Experience planning and/ or leading engaging activities with children
- Coaching or leadership training and experience would be considered an asset.
- A passion for working with children and ability to keep them engaged.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Criminal Records check and Vulnerable Sector Check or ability to obtain prior to start.
- Possession of Standard First AID/CPR-C certification

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- children supervision or camp: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification or able to obtain? (required)
- or able to obtain Vulnerable Sector's check (required)

Work Location: In person
