Production Team Lead

Acadian Seaplants Limited is expanding and growing, and we are on the hunt for our next Production Team Lead at our Cornwallis, Nova Scotia production facility.
As the Production Team Lead, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant during your shift. The incumbent will directly manage the production process and supervise a team of production workers. You will be involved and interact with internal departments on a daily basis, including Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Control, Finance, Safety, and Shipping/Receiving.
**Your Role**:
- Manage human resource issues in a timely and professional manner with a view towards a positive resolution. Motivate people, foster teamwork and promote and support a strong culture of health and safety and quality in all aspects of the operation.
- Coordinate human resource issues by establishing communication and monitoring the objectives of the facility, including discipline, training, and performance management and all other necessary and appropriate policies and procedures.
- Production Team Lead is responsible for all aspects of production in the plant including the assignment of responsibilities to his/her crew, timely loading of cooks, monitoring quality, safety, packaging, and monitoring the process and equipment to ensure its efficient operation.
- Supervise the manufacturing process in a timely and efficient manner to produce quality product and meet all daily, weekly and monthly production, yield and cost targets.
- Communicate consistently and regularly with employees, escalating to the support team in a timely and appropriate manner.
- To be the key contact, representing the company, for any activities outside normal Monday to Friday daytime working hours.
- Support the Company’s vision and policies regarding health and safety, corporate culture and the Progressive Excellence Program by modelling appropriate behaviors toward meeting the Company’s objectives in these areas.
- Supervisor is responsible for ensuring adequate supply at all times ordering the consumables from the warehouse. Also responsible for completion of the process data sheets, process incidents, incidents and accidents forms and all shift paperwork. Provide accurate and legible end of shift reports
- Actively participate in updating standard work and JSA -Safety standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for the production processes.
- Actively participate in Lean implementation and in particular, encouraging the team in continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with, and at times participate in, public relations activities to maintain the appropriate corporate image within the local community.
- Perform other special assignments under the direction of the Production Manager.
**Qualifications/Competencies**:
- Grade 12 or GED. A related Community college diploma (or related courses) would be an asset.
- At least five years experience in a manufacturing environment as well as prior supervisory experience.
- A superior ability to motivate and supervise people while fostering teamwork.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or 5S training or experience would be an asset.
- Computer literacy is mandatory as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills.
