**Location**: Thorold, Ontario

**Position type**:Full time, 5 month contract

**Start date**:April 2024

The Niagara River Lions are looking for a Community Relations Coordinator who will assist with expanding the presence of the teams within the community and building awareness, excitement, and engagement.

The role is responsible for developing and fostering new community partnerships with local partners at schools, minor sports associations, non-profits and businesses to raise the profile of the team and create sustainable community links.

**Responsibilities (including but not limited to)**:

- Develop and maintain calendar of community appearances and events
- Create, schedule, and execute outreach programs for community partners, schools, and partners related to the team’s main objectives including the following programs already in place:

- Virtual School Visits
- Coaches Community Program
- Stubs for Cubs
- Kids basketball clinics
- Dance Pak workshops
- Organize athlete & mascot community appearances
- Manage and organize “Dunkin’s Kids Club” program
- Facilitate, manage, and track donation requests through online donation portal
- Maintain promotional item, signed memorabilia and apparel inventory
- Assist with community game day activities such as 50/50, cub zone, partners set up on the concourse area, and provide game day mascot support
- Assist with managing and distributing tickets through community initiatives such as “stubs for cubs”, “community sections”, etc.
- Assist with group leads and group sales
- Hire, manage and schedule part time “street-team” staff and team mascot
- Assist with recruiting and managing game day volunteers
- Assist with producing content for social media and promotional purposes
- Represent the River Lions at events and serve as spokesperson for community initiatives
- Serve as a liaison to maintain strong working relationships with partners, schools, minor sport associations and non-profits and provide a pathway for individuals to then attend River Lions games
- Provide support for operations, sales & service, and sponsorship integrations with community projects and services
- General support for Vice President of Operations
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Educational background in sport management, public relations, event management
- Knowledge and interest in sports
- Willingness to work traditional and non-traditional hours including game nights, special events and community appearances. This will include some nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Confident attitude with strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn
- Excellent time management skills in order to meet deadlines
- Ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be self sufficient and organized
- Ability to work independently and as a team
