The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario. With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

**The Opportunity**

As a key member of the team, the Manager, Communications & Public Relations enables the organization in strategizing and coordinating functions related to stakeholder consultation, communications, marketing and public relations. The incumbent will additionally play an integral role in the operationalization the Strategic Plan and associated performance reporting. The Manager, Communications & Public Relations also provides communication and marketing support to the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Foundation (NPCF).

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Develops and maintains a corporate communications strategy in support of the Authority’s mandate
- Provides oversight to corporate communications, marketing and brand management including quality control of corporate publications and communication materials
- Leads the development, quality, and management of NPCA website and other communication, marketing and social media channels
- Designs, develops and provides oversight to the implements public consultation programs and provides advice and guidance to project teams, project managers and senior management on issues related to public consultation activities
- Manages customer relations database and customer service operational processes, supporting accessibility and diversity with support from divisional administrative staff
- Leads the development, quality control, publication, distribution, and promotion of NPCA’s Annual Report and other corporate publications
- Coordinates special initiatives and corporate projects related to the strategic plan performance reporting

**What you Bring**
- University Degree in Communications & Marketing, Public Relations, Environmental Science or related
- Five (5) years’ progressive experience in marketing, communications & public relations
- Ability to work independently, in a politically sensitive environment, using sound judgement and ability to provide direction and oversight to staff.
- Demonstrated ability to lead public consultation, facilitate meetings and negotiate contentious issues by employing effective communication with stakeholder groups, board members, politicians, and other project partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing; a strong command of grammar and writing skills for the purpose of proof reading and editing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively with mínimal supervision, deal with conflicting priorities and work demands.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, policies and plans, including conservation authority, provincial, federal, and municipal.
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours and flexible hours including weekends and evenings when necessary.
