**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, Advancement Services, the Annual Giving Officer will lead Annual Giving initiatives with the Advancement Services unit in the Department of University Advancement in support of Carleton University, its alumni and donors.

The Annual Giving Officer monitors all aspects of annual level fundraising initiatives targeting alumni, parents, faculty, staff and students on behalf of Carleton University. The incumbent is responsible for analyzing, planning, goal setting, implementing, monitoring, tracking and evaluating various annual fundraising campaigns and stewardship efforts to raise more than three quarters of a million dollars
annually.

Finally, the incumbent also acts as the lead hand for the Annual Giving Coordinator position in ensuring that the Coordinator performs their activities on time and to specifications, per the Annual Giving Officer’s strategy and plan.

**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- Demonstrated expert understanding of annual fundraising, the changing climate and techniques.
- Ability to seek out and grow knowledge of Carleton University, its history, fundraising practices, programs and directions as well as changes in Advancement trends in North America.
- Expert level understanding of endowment reports, stewardship trends, existing and upcoming provincial and other matching programs and other ways and means of giving.
- Substantial professional experience in developing fundraising activities.
- Highly conversant about developments in fundraising, Advancement, post-secondary education and Carleton’s particular objectives.
- Demonstrated experience at independently creating groundbreaking and innovative annual giving strategies
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, including strong communication skills while using tact, discretion and diplomacy

**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- University degree
- Five to seven years of progressive-related experience, in annual fundraising and preferably in a postsecondary institution.
