"The Native Clan Organization helps and supports our relatives navigate through, heal from, and return to their communities after contact with justice systems and to provide advocacy and progression of Indigenous ways of justice within those systems"

“Our vision is to remove barriers for those relatives who have come into contact with justice systems, and ensure they return to their communities to live their lives in their most positive forms for them”

**What Your Day Will Look Like**:
The healing journey of our relatives is complex, needs to be human-centered, and each one is different. At our 110 Logan location, we help relatives reconnect with community, build relationships and supports, connect with culture, find homes and careers, and above all support our relatives on their healing journey after contact with justice systems. You will be helping our relatives though where they are in their healing journey, and making a huge difference in our community.

**Who Will Mentor You (Your Team Leader)**: The Community Program Pathfinder (CPP) for providing care and support for relatives (clients) in community.

**What You will Do (Responsibilities)**:
**1 **Compliance with the NCO Mission Statement, as well as all applicable Directives, Policies, Protocols and applicable standards and policies.

**2 **Participation in Professional Development as directed by the your supervisor and mentor (CPP).

**3 **Provide wrap around services and support to clients that can include: housing support, basic on-the-spot counselling, basic life skills, cultural supports, and other interventions or supports that are developed and put in place by the NCO team.

**4 **Communicate with relatives (clients) in a productive and positive manner in which all feel supported.

**5 **Help in the development and construction of NCO programs or lessons that benefit the clients we serve.

**6 **Ensure the assigned work location is clean, welcoming, safe, and a space that is welcoming and positive for those who come there for support.

**7 **Facilitate and lead supports groups, lessons, or programs that support relatives (clients) in a community setting.

**8 **Maintain and advance relationships and partnerships between NCO and other community organizations.

**9 **Conduct and help with research, gather community input, and lead focus groups when needed to help in NCO’s efforts.

**10 **Ensure the program space is stocked with all of the supplies, medicines, and support material.

**11 **Other duties as assigned

**Some Things You Bring to This Role (Qualifications)**:
**1 **High School Diploma preferred but consideration will be given to a combination of maturity, education and experience. Life experience will also be considered for this qualification.

**2 **Further education in counseling, community development, program development and/or delivery desirable but not essential.

**3 **Experience with Correctional Service Canada desirable but not essential. Experience with other justice agencies or organizations will also be considered.

**4 **Experience in similar rehabilitative and healing settings desirable but not essential.

**5 **Ability to conduct individual counseling and support.

**6 **Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.

**7 **Ability to use Microsoft Office software, OMS (offender management system) and other required software.

**8 **Ability to take direction, exercise discretion and show leadership in stressful situations. Must be assertive, confident and a positive role model for those we serve.

**9 **Ability to effectively communicate with relatives who may be mentally strained, violent, extremely stressed, anxious or manifest other emotional needs.

**10 **Knowledge of trauma informed care and appropriate interpersonal communication.

**11 **Knowledge Indigenous approaches to healing and ways of supporting relatives with intergenerational, residential school, 60’s scoop, or other forms of trauma.

**12 **Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, history, or ways of life.

**13 **Knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation 94 Calls to Action, the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and other Calls or legislation that impacts our Indigenous populations.

**14 **Hold and maintain a valid Manitoba class 4 or 5 driver’s license; preferred but not required.

**15 **Must hold and maintain First Aid/CPR and Mental Health First Aid Certification.

**16 **Must hold and maintain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification, or other training certifications outlined by NCO.
