**RCEA Bookkeeper/Payroll Administrator**

The Research Council Employees’ Association (RCEA) is a Canada-wide certified bargaining agent for members in six groups and categories at the National Research Council (NRC). Our office is located in Ottawa, Ontario.
- **Salary range per annum $68,000 - $78,000**_

**Responsibilities**:

- Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Post journal entries
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements, ensuring all supporting documents are acquired for the credit card statements
- Prepare monthly Treasurer’s and Investment Reports
- Prepare draft annual budget forecast for Management’s review
- Calculate and process bi-weekly payroll
- Prepare and maintain payroll-related government remittances/filings (e.g., payroll liabilities, quarterly WSIB premiums, monthly pension contributions)
- Process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plan, leave, health and dental insurance
- Maintain records of employee attendance
- Prepare T4s and other statements
- Complete ROEs
- Monitor and maintain office equipment, inventory supplies and equipment, and order replacement supplies as needed
- Perform clerical duties such as maintaining filing systems, ordering office supplies, schedule maintenance issues for repair, etc.
- Assist with travel arrangements for office staff and stewards (flights, hotel/car reservations)
- Process and finalize travel expense claims
- Schedule audio/visual specialists and/or interpreters for meetings

**Computer and Technology Knowledge**:

- QuickBooks, desktop version
- MS Excel
- MS Word
- MS PowerPoint
- MS Outlook

**Knowledge and Experience Required**:

- Minimum 5+ years working in the accounting/payroll field
- Knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including invoice processing, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Post-secondary education in accounting is an asset

**Competencies sought**:

- Maintain accurate financial records
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Works well under pressure, ability to prioritize and identify urgent matters
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
- Proficiency in English, French is an asset
