**FINANCE ASSISTANT**
- (One-year contract - with the possibility of permanent full time to follow)_
**The South Simcoe Police Service is looking to hire a Finance Assistant on a full-time, contract basis.**
STATUS: One position, 40 hours per week
LOCATION: North Division, 2137 Innisfil Beach Road, Innisfil ON South Simcoe Police Service
**CLOSING DATE: January 3, 2023**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provides general support to the Finance Manager;
- Provides back up for the payroll function;
- Perform various functions related to accounts payable/receivables including but not limited to entries in Sage Software; Ensure accuracy of invoices, matching purchase requisitions and ensuring all purchases are approved by authorized personnel; Assigning appropriate vendor and general ledger account codes on accounts payable invoices, invoicing and collection of paid duties;
- Manage and reconcile the Services visa accounts;
- Prepare weekly cheque and EFT runs;
- Weekly bank deposits;
- Tracking court security and court transport hours;
- Maintain and balance daily receipts;
- Maintain computerized and manual files within the financial office;
- Respond to vendor inquiries;
- Provide assistance with various month end reporting functions within required deadlines;
- Assist Finance Manager in tracking time and attendance for all members of the police service;
- Maintain effective and cooperative liaison, and exchange information with other staff, municipal staff, levels of government, agencies and organizations;
- Other duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**:
Preference will be given to applicants who have at least a **two (2) year accounting diploma.**
Able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of accounting practices and systems;
**A minimum of two years of closely related work experience**.
