Director of Finance

Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Director of Finance to join their team as soon as possible. The main responsibilities will include developing and implementing financial plans and policies, managing accounting practices, maintaining relationships with lending institutions, ensuring accurate fiscal record-keeping, and facilitating the preparation of year-end financial statements.
The ideal candidate must have 5-10 years of finance and accounting experience, and a Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting, with a preference for CPA or MBA holders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance of the company's accounts system and manage daily operations within the accounting department.
- Coordinate the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and forecasts.
- Establish and uphold appropriate procedures, controls, and processes for inventory counting, finance, and accounting functions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local corporate, payroll, and tax regulations.
- Lead the annual financial audit/review through the preparation of working papers, account reconciliations, and necessary documentation/analyses.
- Support senior management in evaluating various projects and initiatives, ensuring decisions are financially justified.
- Recruit, train, and retain finance personnel.
- Supervise insurance and risk management.
- Assist in business funding decisions.
- Lead and contribute to special projects/initiatives under the guidance of the Vice President of the company.
Requirements:
- BA / BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
- CPA / CMA / CGA certification is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting / financial management
- HR experience & working in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- Excellent computer skills, advanced Excel a must, Great Plains experience a plus
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail
- Sound business judgment and ability to prioritize and multitask.
