**Job Profile**:
The Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director, Mayor/Council Office and is responsible for coordinating the Office of the Mayor's community outreach programs and communications. The Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships between the Mayor/Council office and its constituents. This position is responsible for developing and implementing outreach initiatives, managing communication channels, and engaging with the community to promote civic involvement, awareness of municipal services, and collaboration on key projects. This position will represent the Mayor/Council Office at public events and foster strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support the Mayor and Council's mandate.

**What you will be doing**:

- Development of news releases, media advisories, key messaging, speaking notes, and briefing notes as required.
- Monitor media coverage and coordinate media events.
- Manage and grow communication channels such as the departmental webpage, social media platforms, newsletters, and press releases to ensure timely and relevant information.
- Create engaging content for various communication mediums, including written materials, graphics, videos, and presentations, to effectively convey the Mayor’s messages and updates.
- Attends events with the Mayor/Council when required.
- Serve as a liaison between the office and community organizations, neighborhood groups, schools, and businesses to facilitate partnerships and collaboration on community-focused projects.
- Respond to inquiries from residents, businesses, and the media, providing accurate information and assistance in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather information, stories, and data for communication materials, reports, and presentations.
- Coordinate and support community needs and help to identify and better understand the pulse of our constituents.
- Identifies opportunities to promote initiatives through public relations/outreach events.
- Act as a resource person to community members and provide links to resident-led groups, agencies, and broader public sector resources.
- Oversee the Mayor’s office Promotional Program.
- Assist with day-to-day operations, as needed, in the Mayor’s office.
- Respond to resident inquiries and develop tools to address concerns, including education and information materials.

**Education**:
3-year College Diploma in Communications or related field, such as Public Relations, Creative Advertising, Journalism, and Business Marketing.

**Experience and Knowledge**:

- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Previous municipal experience would be an asset.
- Advanced computer skills including expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- High degree of professionalism, strong political acumen, tact, and customer service orientation.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and changing priorities.
- Experience with Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Graphic design, web design or preferred.
- Experience in communications planning, media relations, issues management and project management.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and prioritize projects.

Valid G driver's license.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate from the Ministry of Labour. (may be obtained post offer)

**Your compensation**:
Annual salary range of $78,632 - $95,893 (Non-Union Salary Grid, Level 4). Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, and travel benefits. Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).

**Hours of work**:
Standard hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some evenings and weekends as required.

This position is located in-person at Cambridge City Hall - 50 Dickson Street.
