Cecil Community Centre is a not-for-profit, multi-service neighbourhood centre that offers a broad range of recreational, educational, social, cultural, and capacity-building programs to area residents. For more than 40 years, the Centre has played a vital role in the lives of community members of all ages. Our Centre provides programs and services for children, youth, adults and seniors, and individuals who are experiencing, or are at risk of homelessness, and who may living with substance use and mental health challenges.

**Position Summary**:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable person for the position of **Housing & Community Supports Coordinator.** Reporting to the Director, Programs and Community Services, the

**Education and Experience**:
**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Work or a combination of relevant education, training and experience in a housing support related role.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in direct-service role, particularly housing support and advocacy in a harm-reduction focused community organization.
- Member of a regulatory body, such as the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service
- Workers, preferred.
- Strong working knowledge and analysis of the issues impacting unhoused and precariously housed individuals, including an understanding of violence and trauma, mental health, substance use and addictions, and harm reduction strategies.
- Excellent understanding of community resources, housing support models, programmatic interventions and housing options for low-income communities, including social housing, supportive housing, cooperative housing; and rent supplement programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable communities, particularly demonstrated experience integrating the values and principle of anti-racism, anti-oppression and harm
- reduction.
- Excellent writing, research and communication skills, especially the ability to effectively liaise with community members, partner-organizations, and government agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate workshops and trainings.
- Training and experience in conflict resolution, crisis prevention/intervention and harm
- reduction from a trauma-informed perspective strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience training, and supervising placement student and volunteers.
- Working knowledge of MFIPPA, the Landlord Tenant Act, and experience advocating on behalf of clients in landlord-tenant disputes.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

**Personal Competencies**:

- Passion for the important work of supporting vulnerable individuals in their pursuit of sustainable housing and improved well-being and connectedness in the community
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Fluency in a second language preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, meet deadlines, and set priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Creative, flexible, and adaptable to change
- Lived experience of homelessness, and/or peer support training an asset.

**Responsibilities**
- Maintain Cecil Community Centre and City of Toronto code of conduct.
- Identify and assess the needs of clients, with the goal of developing an appropriate short and long term housing plan, and coordinating relevant community services.
- Coordinate a range of services, including healthcare, education, vocational training, social activities, and harm reduction programs tailored to meet the specific needs of clients.
- Ensure integration of effective and creative coordination of client-centered supports between staff, clients and outside agencies, as required.
- Accompany clients to appointments, ensuring their needs are effectively communicated and advocate on their behalf to secure their access to necessary services.
- Identify and manage resources effectively, ensuring access to harm reduction tools and services such as safe use supplies, overdose prevention resources, and addiction support services.
- Coordinate and lead community development projects, such as the Income Tax Clinic, Health
