**Starting Salary**:$52,220 - $59,520, per year based on experience. Salary Range Max $67,900 [2023 Rates]

**The Role**

The Housing Consultation Specialist is a 1-year contract position that reports to the Manager of Housing Development & Initiatives in the Housing & Infrastructure Branch.

**Duties include, but are not limited to**:

- Utilize best practices in engagement to consult with Métis citizens from across Ontario on issues pertaining to Housing, Homelessness and Infrastructure.
- Organize all engagement related material, communications, and logistics for the lifecycle of the engagement
- Liaise with community councils, regional representation and internal MNO branches to deliver on key engagement goals
- Conduct program and project evaluation, using a variety of research and evaluation tools
- Respond to needs of internal and external clients as required
- Research practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies, practices or positions
- Research and prepare detailed and accurate reports, briefing notes and presentations
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of issues
- Collect engagement process data, analyze and write summary reports with appropriate graphic and text
- Promote, track, and measure compliance with program funding requirements by creating and implementing appropriate data collection, reporting, and/or recordkeeping processes
- Deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a timely manner, with tact and discretion
- Other reasonable duties as may be assigned

**Qualifications**
- Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
- Completion of post-secondary education in Social Science, a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in consultation, outreach and engagement
- Experience in research and report writing
- Strong facilitation and strategic communication
- A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
- Advanced communications skills, both written and verbal
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Strong project coordination, including the design and implementation of project work-plans
- Superior organization skills
- Highly detail-oriented
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and assess changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to assess situations and problem-solve independently
- Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently with mínimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience in a related field

Preferred
- Completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Knowledge of Métis-specific and broader indigenous policy and research, key challenges, and programs
- Previous 2 years or more experience in a similar/comparable role
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality evidence and data-based reports and professional presentations
- Demonstrated ability in policy and program development and evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible in a demanding and dynamic environment
- Previous experience dealing with confidential information
