**Corporate Officer**:
The District of Highlands is primarily a rural residential community of 2,500 residents, with an exceptional abundance of scenic beauty, native plant and animal life, and public parkland. The Highlands is just northwest of Victoria, British Columbia, and part of the Capital Regional District. We are seeking a progressive and accomplished professional to join our team as Corporate Officer.

The Corporate Officer has the responsibility for carrying out the powers, duties and functions of the Corporate Officer as set out in the Community Charter and other provisions applicable to the Corporate Officer in other enactments.

**Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the primary responsibilities of this position include**:

- supervising office staff
- preparing Council and Committee agendas and minutes
- drafting and managing bylaws, policies, agreements, and contracts
- managing and maintaining the District’s records management program
- administering the _Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act_ program including processing FOI requests
- managing communications, including the District’s website
- performing the duties of Chief Election Officer

The Corporate Officer exercises considerable independent judgment, initiative, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy in processing assignments, while maintaining confidentiality for all files that are of sensitive nature.
