Counsellor - Ukrainian Speaking

Join the vibrant team at Jewish Family Services of Ottawa and step into a rewarding role as a Counsellor We are currently seeking an individual with fluency in Ukrainian who thrives in both in-person and virtual settings (tele-therapy). If you possess a special talent for connecting with others and have experience in counselling, we want to hear from you

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides short term clinical counselling / psychotherapy to clients.
- Provides culturally appropriate and language-specific direct service including client assessment, treatment, and referrals.
- Provides advocacy and referrals to help clients’ access relevant community services. Where necessary and useful, collaborates with other professionals (i.e., doctors, settlement workers and other health-care professionals).
- Maintains cooperative working relationships with community agencies, schools, courts, child welfare workers, etc., makes referrals and mobilizes community resources where indicated on matters relating to clients’ welfare.
- Ensures quality client care that is consistent with best practices, agency standards, and evidence-based approaches (particularly brief, narrative, & solution-focused therapies).
- Maintains necessary documentation and case records.
- Participates in supervision, meetings, workshops (including professional development opportunities)
- Performs related work as assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications/Experience
- M.S.W., M.Ed. (Counselling) or equivalent degree
- Membership in good standing with the OCSWSSW or CRPO (RSW or RP). Other health professionals which can perform the act of psychotherapy in Ontario can be considered as well.
- Experience in brief narrative therapy is an asset.
- Comfort and experience working with clients of various ages is an asset.
- Knowledge of community resources and host-agent language and culture.
- Must be able to communicate in Ukrainian. Fluency in more languages is an asset as is cross-cultural experience.
- Comfortable working in-person and in a virtual setting (tele-therapy)

- Possess the lived experience, knowledge, and cultural experiences required to support members of the LGBTQ+ communities.
- Possess the lived experience, knowledge, and cultural experiences required to support people who are visible minorities.
- Possess the lived experience, knowledge, and cultural experiences of immigration.

Підходящий кандидат буде включений до складу Клініки амбулаторного консультування (Walk-in Counselling Clinic - TWICC) щовівторка в другій половині дня/увечері. Змінюйте життя людей, працюючи в динамічній та інклюзивній команді.
Під наглядом керівника клініки успішний кандидат(и) відповідатиме за безпосереднє надання послуг, що включатиме проведення оцінки стану клієнта та надання лікування.

Обов'язки та відповідальність
- Надає () клієнтам короткострокове клінічне консультування / психотерапію.
- Надає безпосередні послуги з урахуванням культури та мови, включаючи оцінку стану клієнта, лікування та перенаправлення.
- Забезпечує адвокацію та направлення до вузьких спеціалістів, щоб допомогти клієнтам отримати доступ до відповідних послуг на рівні громади. Якщо це необхідно та доречно, співпрацює з іншими фахівцями (лікарями, працівниками з питань поселення, іншими медичними спеціалістами).
