Reports To: After School Program (ASP) coordinator
Location: Woodview Public Library, North York and possible other locations in the Daystrom/Chalkfarm communities.
Working on a blended model with some activities taking place in person and online.

**Position Summary**
The LEAP (Learn, Engage, Aspire, Peer Leadership) Program provides a strength-based approach to supporting Middle Years children (9-13 years of age) and their parents/guardians in an enriching environment. This program aims to improve the well-being of newcomer children and youth by focusing on physical activity, holistic health, and wellness education. In addition, participant activities also include homework assistance, excursions, and arts-based learning.
The LEAP Facilitator will work with the Manager, Community Connections, ASP coordinator and other staff, student placements, and volunteers to plan, carry out and evaluate the LEAP After-School Program.
**Main Responsibilities**
Program Planning & Delivery
- Lead in planning and implementing recreational and educational activities for children ages 9 to 13 years old
- Develop program schedules and plans in line with program requirements
- Experienced in facilitating in-person and virtual programs with various learning tools such as Google classroom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.
- Ensure the safe supervision of children at all times
- Oversee the preparation and serving of nutritional snacks to children
- Manage conflict between children and/or volunteers/staff in an appropriate manner
- Report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to supervisor
- Maintain a clean and organized program space
- Share with partners across Toronto, innovative curriculum for the middle years
Program Monitoring & Evaluation
- Monitor program expenses and purchases, submit receipts and expense forms as required
- Maintain current and accurate attendance forms, records, statistics and other documents as needed
- Complete monthly/quarterly reporting of program activities
- Administer and tabulate program evaluations
Outreach & Support
- Conduct outreach and retention activities to ensure adequate program attendance and participation
- Liaise with parents, teachers, other NYCH staff, and partner organizations as needed around meeting community needs
- Build partnerships and liaise with community service providers to support programming, and provide enriching workshops/guest speaker sessions for children 9-13 years of age
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required
**Required Qualifications**:
Education
- Completion of post-secondary education in health, education, psychology, social work or related field and/or comparable work experience
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
Experience and Skills
- Must be available to work three days per week (Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays) between the hours of 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm (weekday)
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating programs with a focus on holistic well-being and active living, including components of social skills development, academic engagement, creative arts and sports/physical activities;
- Solid understanding of Middle Years children (ages 9-13) and the needs of their guardians/families
- Demonstrated skills and experience in program implementation;
- Demonstrated skills in staff, volunteer and student placement supervision;
- Experience working with children and families from diverse cultures within an anti-discriminatory framework;
- Passionate, energetic and dedicated to the healthy development of children;
- Committed to modeling healthy lifestyle behaviors;
- Highly motivated, positive attitude and ability to work well in a team as well as independently;
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of MS word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher;
