**Description:

- Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance

**_Eligibility criteria:_**
- Must be a currently enrolled and full-time student at the University of Winnipeg
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Must have completed at least 60 credit hours from the University of Winnipeg by end of Winter term in current calendar year.
- Must have a declared major in either Business and Administration, Economics or Economics and Finance
- Are committed to participating in a paid four-month work placement with Canada Life during the summer(s)

**_Scholarship:_**
- Students with 60 to 87 credit hours will be eligible for initial support of $2,500 Tuition Scholarship; $1,000 to cover education expenses; and the opportunity for renewal of one additional year (see Scholarship Renewal for more information)
- Students with 90 or more credit hours and an expected graduation date in Spring the following calendar year will receive a full tuition scholarship (up to $5,000) plus $1,000 to cover educational expenses with funding received to be based on course registration and arranged with the University of Winnipeg Awards Office and The Faculty of Business and Economics

**_Scholarship renewal:_**
- This scholarship is renewable at a full tuition value (up to a maximum of $5000), provided that the recipient:
- Has completed 90 hours toward their degree and plans to graduate at the conclusion of the academic session in which the scholarship is tenable.
- Continues to be enrolled as a full-time student.
- Has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Has completed a four-month work placement with Canada Life that has been assessed as satisfactory by the Selection Committee
- Students who do not maintain their full-time student status and/or whose GPA falls below 3.0 will have their scholarship placed under review for decision by the Dean in consultation with Canada Life**_Work term:_**
- Students will be required to complete a paid summer work placement at Canada Life in the summer preceding their scholarship award.
- Roles and responsibilities are determined after the applicant selection process, shared at the start of the term by the departments into which students are assigned to work.
- Students are committed to a satisfactory and demonstrated performance level throughout the term, as monitored by their leadership and work team.

- Minimum overall GPA above 3.0

**_Written composition - Essay (weighting - 20%):_**
- 2-3 pages in length (please attach your essay to your Cover Letter)
- Topic - BOTH
- Describe your interest in Canada Life, and
- Describe your interest in financial services/insurance.
- To be reviewed by Canada Life selection panel

**_Personal Interview (Canada Life selection panel) (weighting - 20%)_**
- Selection determined by top students in above three categories.

**Salary range**:

- Minimum: $39,200- Maximum: $58,800- The base salary for this position is between
